- Not teratogenic in animals but may cause intrauterine growth retardation, fetal or neonatal death, delayed ossification.
- Crosses human placenta.
- No well controlled human data but suggested possible association with congenital anomalies in first trimester exposure including: neural tube defects, craniofacial, limb, cardiovascular, pulmonary, bone and digital defects.
- Reported adverse neonatal effects of lamotrigine exposure in uetro including: respiratory depression, growth retardation, septicemia, volvulus of ileum and NTD (neural tube defects).
