 Indication  

  • Analgesic, antipyretic.
 Fetal Risk  

  • Crosses the placenta.
  • In therapeutic doses it is safe for short-term use.
  • No well controlled human data, but there has been reports that maternal toxic doses can cause fetal liver toxicity, kidney abnormalities and intrauterine death.
  • Suggested possible association with congenital dislocation of the hip and club foot if used anytime during pregnancy.
  • Exposure to large doses of acetaminophen and propoxyphene throughout pregnancy can cause craniofacial and digital anomalies and infant withdrawal symptoms.
 Breast Feeding  

  • Excreted into milk in small amounts.
  • Safe in breast feeding but reported single case of maculopapular rash in exposed infants.
